Winery & Brewpubs Day TripsWollersheim Winery ![]() Leaving Prairie due Sac on Highway 60 west, meandering along the Wisconsin River to the Village of Spring Green. The shops, galleries and eateries are open year. Cross the Wisconsin River on Highway 23, to your left is the Tower Hill State Park and the American Players Theatre. To your right is County Road C, you will see Taliesin, the famous Frank Lloyd Wright complex. Following Highway C south you pass through Wyoming Valley, some of the most spectacular scenery Wisconsin has to offer. At the intersection of County Road C and Highway 133, continue south and you will soon be following the Wisconsin River again. During summer the islands are peppered with tents and campers and the river with canoe and kayak enthusiasts. You will soon drive through the Avoca prairie, the largest tall grass prairie east of the Mississippi River. Continuing through this prairie, at the intersection of Hwy 133 and Highway 80, follow Highway 80 north to the Village of Highland. Signs will direct you to County Road Q and the winery. Spurgeon Winery Spurgeon Winery offers tours daily of the production facilities. Wine and cheese tasting if enjoyed in the gift shop and relaxation is encouraged on the outside deck anytime. The winery offers four wine extravaganzas each year. Leaving this winery, Highway G takes you, once again, through an area where eagles are often spotted, to the Village of Muscoda. At the intersection of Highway G and Highway 80, proceed on Highway 80 north approximately 8 miles to Oak Ridge Drive, signs will direct you. Weggy Winery ![]() Weggy Winery is open daily and offers tram tours of the vineyard (calling first is encouraged). 15 wines are offered for tasting, all made of Wisconsin grown grapes and fruit. Branches Winery This charming boutique winery features delicious wines produced from estate-grown grapes. Surrounded by vineyard views, the winery are located in the heart of the Driftless Area and just west of Westby on Highway 14/61. The friendly tasting room offers wine by the glass and bottle as well as a delectable selection of appetizers and featuring local artisan cheeses. The seasonal outdoor patio is the perfect quiet spot to enjoy a glass of wine and take in the view of rolling hills. Picnic basket packages are available to make your visit memorable. Whispering Bluffs Winery opened the doors for business on May 26, 2012. Located in Potosi, Wisconsin and nestled along the scenic Mississippi River, Whispering Bluffs Winery is directly across the street from the Potosi Brewery and National Brewery Museum. Whispering Bluffs Winery is a purveyor of an assortment of fine wines. Our wines feature local varietals such as Maréchal Foch, Marquette, Noiret, LaCrosse, Brianna, and Edelweiss. Many of our grapes are grown in the Whispering Bluffs Vineyard located in nearby Cassville. In addition, many wine enthusiasts are fond of our specialty fruit wines and seasonal wines.
Tastings are offered daily for $8.00. Tasting visitors select five fine wines and receive a Whispering Bluffs wine goblet with their tasting. Customers wishing to purchase a case of wine will receive a 15% discount off the case price. All of our wine bottles are collector’s items. The labels are beautiful reproductions of original artwork depicting the birds of the Upper Mississippi Valley painted by Wes Helmick, a local artist who also is our winemaker. His original acrylics of birds and the landscapes of the Upper Mississippi Valley hang throughout the Winery. Brambleberry Winery is a small artisanal winery tucked into the beautiful rolling hills of Western Wisconsin, not far from the Great River Road.
